Welcome to Dymphna's Diary

Although I am not Catholic, I find it interesting that "Dymphna" is the patron saint of those who suffer from clinical depression and other mental illnesses. Considering the purpose of this site is to offer inspiration and spiritual guidance to my readers, I felt it was only right I chose her namesake for the title.

In 2010, this site was set up to pass along personal information about how depression has affected my life and the lives of my family. Since then, it has EVOLVED. In 2011, I attempted to present posts that were INSPIRATIONAL to you, my readers. In 2012, I went even deeper with personal stories from people across the United States via touching videos, songs, and interviews. My hope was to show each of you that even when you feel that you are in a situation that no one else could understand, you are not alone. Through it all, my comments have remained to be my personal opinions and spiritual reflections. I will continue to occasionally post information that I feel is beneficial in removing the stigma of mental illness, but regardless I feel blessed to have been given this platform to spread God's love and compassion for ALL people. I wouldn't be where I am today without the strength I receive daily from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. My hope is that this blog will help you find some comfort in your life. It most certainly is helping me find comfort in mine.

I want to make it perfectly clear, though, that when I make generalizations regarding mental illness, I am NOT giving advice to anyone. I'm just passing along information that I have found helpful in my life. I'm writing about MY PERSONAL experiences and thoughts. Mental illness affects everyone differently and your situation may not be reflective of mine.

God Has a Plan...

Jeremiah 29:11 "for I know the plans I have for YOU, declares the LORD"

Did you ever wonder what God has in store for your life? I know I have... many times! I've wondered the same thing about other people's lives, too. For instance, I like country music. To be honest I love pretty much all types of music, but country is my favorite. Anyway, at one time I listened to a local radio station that featured a DJ on their morning show by the name of Bobby Jack Murphy.

Bobby Jack wasn't the normal, run of the mill, morning disc jockey. He was a disc jockey you could really relate to... sometimes he flustered his words, most times he talked about things that interested the average person, and always he was sincere. And then, he was gone! The radio station decided to replace him. I wondered what plans God had for Bobby Jack.

Well, about six months ago, I tuned into one of my favorite "talk radio" channels - 94.7 WFIA (a Christian station) - and guess who was on there! Yep, Bobby Jack Murphy! Not only had God lead him to another outlet for his talent, he has allowed to prosper in that position: Bobby Jack was recently the WINNER of the WHAS 11's Best Radio Personality!

If you are in the Kentuckiana area, I encourage you to tune into Bobby Jack and his show, On the Way Home weekdays at 4pm. Plus, is you're a country music fan, WFIA offers Country You Can Believe In weeknights at 7pm.

Remember, God always has a plan... He had one for Bobby Jack, and He has one for YOU!

"I'm no preacher or Bible Scholar, just a growing Christian who wants to share with others along the journey to our ultimate home, with Him"
Bobby Jack Murphy
